Question:  Frank, I love your coverage and insights!  It seems like Tiger is having more trouble with the wind at the Masters than are the others. Could it be his Nike ball? Golf Magazine's ball rating issue ( Feb 08) has it spinning 1000 rpm more than the second highest spinning ball.   Thanks for all the entertainment!
Frank Says:  You could make a case for that but the guy wins every second week and is as meticulous as anyone with his equipment. The tests are done with a machine and each player has their own launch characteristics, knowing Tiger he could get that ball made to any specification he wanted (which is how that ball originated). On top of that his 72 even with a few missed short puts was better than just about everybody that played when the wind was at its strongest.   Personally I think his start over the first two days put him behind the 8 ball and gave the guys in front too much breathing room. When Immelman birdied 5 and Tiger didn't birdie 8 on Sunday it opened up a sizeable gap on a course that even the best had to be careful. If Tiger doesn't win, Immelman winning is good for Golf...maybe he pushes Tiger a little, helps some of the other younger guys get to thinking they can do it at the same time.   Tiger needs players to beat.... not just records.

Question:  Nice to see you on the Golf Channel .... I remember your halcyon days on the European Tour. What do you make of Monty not making the Masters through invite?  Has he been hard done by?

Frank says:
He HAS been hard done by, but .... and it is a big but,  Augusta has always had a select field which is and has been a glaring weakness in its status for many a year.

Whilst I don't think that has affected the outcome of determing the winner  it has certainly slowed the progress for many a developing young player by omitting them from the event.  They were the last to include the top 50 of the World Rankings.  I don't know of any Major that shouldn't simply take the defending Champion and the ramainder of the field of an agreed world ranking list.  If there are only 4 Majors make each one of them the best field in golf.

The above being said Monty had a great opportunity to voice that opinion when he was in a handful of players in the world for over a decade.  He didn't and sadly is paying for it on the backend of a fabulous career. Hence you should always put back into the game to make it fairer and better at any stage of your career. Thanks for writing.

Question: I played the TPC at Sawgrass and have a video of my swing on the 17th tee (which I parred!).  Although you cannot see the full swing I was wondering if you could make any comments on how I can improve on what you can see.

Thanks for your help and see footage attached:

Franks says: Because you are already half way through your swing it is a bit hard, but I do have a few observations. You look like you are over controlling your swing with your upper body.  Consequently you come out of your posture a little early and come up on it. You have to let your arms work quicker or your body slower. eg: the outside of the circle must go faster than the inside of the circle because it has more distance to travel.

Hope this helps.

Frank
